Ceramic tiles are one of the most frequently used tiles due to its versatility as it can be used in many different applications. They are sturdy and water resistant which allow them to be used in bathrooms, kitchens and high traffic areas. Ceramic can be dyed different colours to create grey floor tiles and white floor tiles. One downside is the grout that they are required to have. Grout can be hard to clean and would require special tools or a professional to clean. It is also prone to cracking if heavy objects are dropped on top of the tile. These are a few points to consider when opting for ceramic tile flooring.

Ceramic floors with glazed tiles are simple to maintain as they have a protective layer that is water and stain proof. Ceramic floors can be swept, vacuumed and mopped to clean dirt. If staining does occur, most heavy-duty cleaning solutions can be used and would not damage the ceramic. The grout that is needed can be hard to maintain as specialized cleaning equipment would be needed to clean it. Ceramic floors are also prone to cracking which would require the tile to be replaced. This can be difficult if you do not know how to install tile or would be costly if replacement is needed by a professional.

The costs of ceramic flooring can vary greatly. Budget ceramic tiles along with DIY installation make them very affordable. However, if your select quality tiles and engage  professionals to install them, the costs would quickly add up. Maintenance can be time consuming and or costly as well. The grout of between the tiles needs to be sealed properly in order to prevent damage from moisture and stains. It also would require specialized cleaning equipment to clean the grout. Ceremic floors are also prone to damage which would require the tile(s) to be replaced and it can be costly depending on the type of tile and installation. Therefore, ceramic can be quite costly if you do not like budget tiles or are not installing it yourself.
